Three people have been remanded in correctional centre for allegedly diverting and selling 300 government mosquito nets meant for free distribution to households in Ife North Local Government Area of Osun State.
This was disclosed in a a statement by the spokesperson of the state police command, who named the suspects as Rabbi Bennett ‘F’, Opeyemi Ajibola ‘M’, and Aminu Ibrahim ‘M’.
Ojelabi, said the case came to light on June 9, 2026, following a report on the illegal sale of nets supplied under a government health intervention programme.
He noted that investigations showed the nets, which were to be given to the public at no cost, were instead sold off.
According to the statement, the suspects allegedly sold six bundles containing 300 pieces of mosquito nets on June 8, 2026. Police said trouble started after Bennett and Ajibola disagreed over proceeds from the unlawful sale.
“During investigation, they reportedly confessed to their involvement in the alleged offence,” Ojelabi said.
The spokesperson added that all three suspects have been charged to court and are currently on remand at the Correctional Centre pending further judicial proceedings.
