Resident Doctors applaud Adeleke over health workers’ welfare

Governor Ademola Adeleke has promised that his administration will deepen investments in healthcare and health workers’ welfare if given a second term.

According to a statement by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, the governor stated this, following commendation from the Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors, NARD.

The statement said NARD had commended the Osun government for implementing the Peculiar Allowance for Tertiary Hospitals, PAT, Specialist Allowance, SA, the 2026 Medical Residency Training Fund, MRTF, Annual Leave Bonus, and Accoutrement Allowance.

It noted that the association described the measures as laudable and a genuine investment in the healthcare workforce.

Responding to the commendation, Adeleke said resident doctors and other health workers are central to effective healthcare delivery in the state.

He linked the administration’s welfare focus to recent gains in the sector.

“I cherish this acknowledgement of our commitment to the health sector from the National Association of Resident Doctors, NARD. This will encourage us to do more, especially for the secondary and tertiary health sectors,” the governor said.

Adeleke added that expanding welfare packages for health professionals remains a key priority of his government.
