Osun APC, Bamidele Salam, condole Senator Basiru over mother’s death

The All Progressives Congress in Osun State and the lawmaker representing Ede North, Ede South, Egbedore and Ejigbo Federal Constituency, Hon. Bamidele Salam, have expressed deep condolences over the death of Alhaja Sidikat Abeke Basiru, mother of the APC National Secretary, Senator Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru.

In a statement issued on Sunday by its Director of Media and Information, Kola Olabisi, the Osun APC described the demise as “a painful loss not only to the family but also to all who knew and benefited from her exemplary life.”

The statement issued on behalf of the State Chairman, Sooko Tajudeen Lawal, said the passing of the late matriarch was in accordance with the will of Almighty Allah, “who gives life and takes it at His appointed time.”

He urged the bereaved family to submit to God’s will with faith and total acceptance.

Lawal noted that while death is inevitable, the departure of a caring mother and respected matriarch always leaves an irreplaceable vacuum.

He described the late Alhaja Abeke Basiru as “a virtuous woman whose life was marked by humility, kindness, discipline, and unwavering devotion to the service of Allah and humanity.”

The party said it identifies with Senator Basiru at this difficult moment, acknowledging the immense grief associated with losing a beloved mother. It prayed that Almighty Allah grant him, his siblings, and the entire family the strength, patience, and fortitude to bear the loss.

Joining the condolences, Hon. Salam described the death as a personal loss.

“Maami was a very hardworking, loving and caring mother who provided us shelter and love in some of our difficult formative years,” he wrote on his Facebook page.

Recalling their early days, the federal lawmaker said her counsel and prayers sustained them in the early 1990s after their expulsion from the university over students’ activism during the military era.

“In this hour, I pray Allah accept her homecoming and comfort my brother and friend as well as the entire family,” Salam stated.
