The Akogun of Esa Oke, Chief Abiodun Owoeye, has condemned Governor Ademola Adeleke over derogatory remarks made against the Director General of the All Progressives Congress Governorship Campaign Committee, Hon. Wole Oke, during a condolence visit to the town on Wednesday.
Chief Owoeye described the governor’s outburst as an insult to the entire Esa Oke community.
“It is sacrilege to call our son a ‘bastard’ on our soil,” the Akogun said, insisting that traditional norms must not be abandoned for political reasons, regardless of provocation.
It would be recalled that Governor Adeleke was in Esa Oke on Wednesday to sympathize with the family of an Accord Party member, Ajayi Rogba, who was allegedly shot dead by suspected political thugs.
While addressing the victim’s family and residents, the governor reportedly rained curses on Hon. Wole Oke, accusing him of involvement in the violence rocking the area ahead of the August 15, 2026 governorship election.
But Chief Owoeye faulted the manner of the governor’s intervention, saying public figures must exercise restraint in tense moments.
He argued that calling a prominent son of Esa Oke such names in his own community undermines peace and could inflame tensions further.
