Accord Party member shot dead in Esa Oke

A member of the Accord Party in Esa Oke, identified as Ajayi Rogba, was allegedly shot dead by suspected political thugs on Tuesday evening, hours after the party announced plans for a campaign visit to the town.

Accord Party candidate for Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency, Pelumi Olajengbesi, in a post on his Facebook, said Rogba was shot in the neck in front of his father’s house in Esa Oke.

He noted that Rogba was one of the key planners of Wednesday’s scheduled Accord rally in the town.

“This is the most painful experience of my political life,” Olajengbesi wrote.

“He was an innocent man… killed in front of his father’s house just because he believed in my aspiration.”

Olajengbesi said the post was meant to document the incident and not to promote violence. He pledged to honour Rogba and other victims of political violence by pursuing justice through lawful channels.

“Every innocent life matters, and those responsible for this deadly act should know that they will give account one day,” he stated.
