The All Progressives Congress in Osun State has denied allegations by the Accord Party that its leaders met to plot political killings and rig the August 15, 2026, governorship election, describing the claims as false, fabricated and frivolous.
The party’s director of Media and Information, Kola Olabisi, in a statement, dismissed Accord’s party report of an “evil political meeting” at Chief Bisi Akande’s Ila-Orangun country home as manufactured.
The statement urged the police to compel Accord Chairman, Pastor Victor Akande, to substantiate the allegation.
“There is an urgent need for the police to investigate the fabricated assassination plan of the Accord Party leadership in the state in order to straighten the knotty issue and prove to all and sundry that no election is worth the blood of any inhabitant of the state,” Olabisi said.
The APC said its governorship candidate, Mr Bola Oyebamiji, and other party leaders do not require violence to win the forthcoming poll based on the level of the preparation of our party.
“It is a simple principle of the law that whoever alleges must be ready to prove beyond a reasonable doubt, which is the reason the state police command must not treat this frivolous allegation by the Osun State Accord with levity,” the statement added.
The party accused Accord leaders of being jittery because of the monumental loss of their party in the just-concluded governorship election in Ekiti State, and claimed the allegation was aimed at laying a foundation for the imminent loss of their candidate, Senator Ademola Adeleke.
“Do we because a supposed outgoing chief executive of a state who has lost the confidence and favour of the electorate due to misgovernance and policy somersaults is standing for a re-election, but obviously rebuffed by the people who have been the victims of his numerous atrocities in the government, should not hold a meeting in the house of any of our leaders?” Olabisi queried.
The APC enjoined the police and Osun residents to discountenance the allegation and urged members to remain focused on working for Oyebamiji’s victory.
