The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has stated that it has filed a stay of execution regarding Monday’s Federal High Court judgment on the tenure elongation suit filed by council chairmen elected under the party.
The party noted that the court, on Monday, affirmed that the tenure of its local government chairmen expired in October 2025.
The Director of Media and Information of Osun APC, Kola Olabisi, said the party will challenge the judgment at a higher court.
Olabisi disclosed that a notice of appeal and a motion for stay of execution had already been filed.
He insisted that no enforcement action can be taken against the sacked chairmen until the appeal is determined.
Olabisi explained that the Court of Appeal in Abuja was already handling appeals from earlier interlocutory rulings in the case and had fixed September 28, 2026, for further hearing.
