NSCDC urges Osun residents to share timely security information

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Osun State Command, has called on residents to partner with security agencies by providing credible and timely information to curb crime and improve public safety.

Osun NSCDC Commandant, Igbalawole Sotiyo, made the call on Tuesday during the command’s weekly radio programme in Osogbo.

A statement by the command spokesperson, Kehinde Adeleke, said the commandant, represented by his deputy, Felix Oguntifa, and other officers, stressed that community participation is key to intelligence gathering and crime prevention.

The officers urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements, unfamiliar persons with questionable behaviour, and any unusual activities in their communities to the nearest security agency.

They noted that security is a collective responsibility, and timely information from residents can help security agencies prevent crimes and respond quickly to threats.

The command also urged parents, school administrators, market leaders, transport unions, religious institutions, and other community stakeholders to adopt proactive security measures, maintain situational awareness, and educate their members on the importance of reporting suspicious activities.
