Concerned indigenes of Iwoland have petitioned Governor Ademola Adeleke over the deteriorating condition of Iwo General Hospital, demanding immediate rehabilitation of the facility.
The petition, dated June 6, 2026 and signed by Prince Alao Adekunle Lamuye, stated that the hospital has been left to decay for over a decade.
The facility, according to the petitioners, currently operates without resident doctors, essential drugs, electricity, or functional equipment, and has been rated 1 out of 5 by members of the public.
They accused Adeleke’s administration of excluding Iwo from the several General Hospitals that have been renovated and equipped across the state.
The petition also referenced the N7.3 billion Primary Health Centre revitalisation project, under which Iwo PHC was listed but was not rehabilitated. The petitioners described it as part of a pattern of exclusion that has left the town’s health infrastructure in poor condition.
Reacting, the spokesperson to the governor, Olawale Rasheed, said the upgrade of Iwo General Hospital is already included in the 2026 Budget.
He, however, said many projects included in the budget could not be executed because of funding constraints.
