The Chairman of Obokun Local Government Area of Osun State, Maaroof Ogundipe, has distanced himself from a document allegedly containing his signature attached to purported APC membership registration figures and primary election results for aspirants who contested Obokun State Constituency.
Ogundipe in a statement on Thursday, said the document did not emanate from his office, adding that the signature on the document was not his own.
“My attention has been drawn to a purported document currently being circulated across social media platforms and political groups, allegedly containing my signature attached to purported APC membership registration figures and primary election results for aspirants who contested to represent Obokun State Constituency at the Osun State House of Assembly.
“I wish to unequivocally state that the said document did not emanate from my office as Chairman of Obokun Local Government, nor was it prepared, endorsed or authorised by me in any capacity.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the signature attached to the document is not my official signature,” he noted.
The Local Government chairman stated that party registration records and primary election results are matters strictly within the jurisdiction of the appropriate party structures and authorised electoral committees.
“I therefore call on members of the public, APC faithful to remain calm,” he concluded.
