Coronation Anniversary: Olori Haastrup clears debt of inmates in Ilesa prison

In commemoration of the first coronation of Owa Obokun of Ijesaland, Owa Clement Haastrup, the wife of the monarch, Olori Victoria Haastrup, has settled the outstanding debts of two inmates at the Ilesa Correctional Centre.

This was as she pledged her commitment to supporting female inmates awaiting trial to ensure they receive fair hearings.

According to a post by one of the media aides to the monarch, Isaac Haastrup, the queen paid the bill of the two inmates – one standing trial for a debt of one hundred and fifty thousand naira and the other for twenty thousand naira.

A nursing mothers, Taiwo Babawale and her mother, Kehinde Babawale, who were detained at the correctional centre following a physical altercation, also received blessings from the royal family.

Olori Victoria donated five hundred thousand naira to the female inmates for their upkeep and personally blessed the nursing mother and other expectant inmates.

The post noted that the controller of the correctional centre, Mr Orisabinueni Oluwanbe expressed gratitude to her Regal Majesty and wished Owa Clement Adesuyi Haastrup a successful reign on the throne.
