Obokun APC members protest in Osogbo over alleged tampering with assembly primary result

Members of the All Progressives Congress in Obokun Local Government Area of Osun State on Thursday protested at the party’s state secretariat in Osogbo, alleging an attempt to alter the outcome of the recent House of Assembly primary election.

The demonstrators accused Hon. Wole Oke, who represents Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency, and party chieftain Siji Olamiju of working to replace the winner of the primary with the runner-up.

Brandishing placards with messages like “Give us our mandate,” “Respect the will of the people,” and “Let people’s votes count,” the protesters insisted the exercise was free and fair and produced Mr. Gbenga Falope as the clear winner.

Speaking for the group, Mr. Oyewole Oyebanji said the result was not in doubt and that Falope polled 2,594 votes to defeat his closest challenger who had 2,020 votes.

“Any move to overturn this result will weaken internal democracy and damage the party’s credibility before the 2026 general elections,” Oyebanji said.

He alleged that the process was hijacked after the voting was concluded.

“We have been robbed by Hon. Wole Oke and Siji Olamiju. We went for the primary election on Wednesday, and at the end of the day, Gbenga Falope won with 2,594 votes,” he stated.

According to him, suspicion arose when the party moved to Osogbo for the collection and processing of nomination forms.

“After the conclusion of the primary and our movement to Osogbo for the issuance and documentation of nomination forms, the process suddenly became questionable and suspicious,” he said.

Oyebanji further claimed that Hon. Oluwole Oke interfered to block Falope’s documentation.

“We strongly believe, and have credible information, that Hon. Oluwole Oke, Member representing Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency, interfered in the process and influenced the unlawful withholding and removal of the nomination form meant for the House of Assembly position,” he added.

The protesters urged the APC leadership in Osun to step in and uphold the original result, warning that ignoring party members would have consequences.

“Falope is the winner, and we will not accept injustice, manipulation, or the twisting of the democratic voice of APC members in Obokun Local Government. The peace, unity, and future electoral success of the APC depend on fairness, transparency, and respect for internal democracy,” Oyebanji said.
