2027: Coalition endorses Salam, warns against campaign of falsehood

A coalition of community leaders, professionals, youth groups, and development-focused stakeholders, in Ede North, Ede South, Egbedore and Ejigbo Federal Constituency, under the aegis of E4 Development Advocates, has endorsed the re-election of Hon. Bamidele Salam to the House of Representatives.

The coalition in a statement on Tuesday by its coordinator, Dr. Ogundeji Awoniyi, described Salam as the top-performing representative from Osun State, with notable contributions including 33 legislative actions in a single session and multiple bills sponsored.

Awoniyi noted that Salam’s outreach programs have been both inclusive and far-reaching, adding that youths, women, artisans and others have benefited immensely from the various empowerment initiatives of the Accord Party lawmaker.

He highlighted some of the initiatives to include, “The construction of over 100 blocks of classrooms in 25 primary and secondary schools and provision of bursaries to over 3,000 students of secondary schools and higher institutions across the 4 local government areas.

“Training and empowerment of over 1000 youth and young graduates under the Business and Leadership Bootcamp Initiative with the presentation of over 150 million-naira grant for capital start-up and equipment to address youth unemployment and increase socio-economic impacts.

“Provision of over 50 motorised and solar-powered boreholes and solar-powered street lights to several communities, training and distribution of empowerment items to over 20,000 constituents across several fields.

“Presentation of 10-million naira grant to Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT) for micro-credit facilities, construction of 10 town halls, civic centres, pensioner Hlhouse, ICT centre, a police station as well as the sponsorship of over 100 indigent students on full scholarship both in private and public institutions in Nigeria and the diaspora.”

The coalition noted that while it does not oppose the aspirations of any individuals seeking public office, it rejected what it described as a campaign strategy built on falsehood, emotional manipulation, and a dangerous attempt to rewrite political history.

“For the avoidance of doubt, and in fairness to the intelligence of innocent and unsuspecting members of the public, the verifiable record of representation within the E4 Federal Constituency clearly shows that Ejigbo Local Government has enjoyed a significant and equitable share of political opportunities,” the statement stated.

Awoniyi further said Ejigbo Local Government has enjoyed considerable political representation and patronage since 1999.

“Since 1999, the House of Representatives seat has moved across the constituency: Isiaq A. Aliyu (Ede North, 1999–2003), Ayinde Gbadebo Muftau (Ede South, 2003–2007), Falade Ajibade Michael (Ejigbo, 2007–2011), Ajagbe Adetunji Tajudeen (Ede North, 2011–2015), Prof. Mojeed Alabi (Ejigbo, 2015–2019), and Bamidele Salam (Egbedore, 2019–present),” he added.

Awoniyi noted that re-electing Salam will not only ensure continuity but also elevate the constituency’s standing in national politics and unlock greater development opportunities.
