The Federal University of Agriculture and Development Studies, Iragbiji, Osun State, on Wednesday, matriculated 1,540 pioneer students to formally commence studies at the newly established institution.
The Vice Chancellor of the university, Mufutau Atayese, while speaking at the maiden matriculation ceremony held at the temporary campus in Iragbiji, highlighted some of the achievements recorded since he was appointed as the head of the institution.
Atayese, who said the university took off with 3 faculties that have a total of 28 departments, recruited 226 academic, senior and junior non-academic staff to enhance service delivery and actualisation of its core mandates.
The Vice Chancellor further disclosed that the university had received intervention projects from the Tertiary Institution Trust Fund, adding that construction work will soon commence at the 740-hectare permanent site of the institution.
“The university took off with three (3) Faculties: Faculty of Agriculture and Renewable Natural Resources with Thirteen (13) Departments; Faculty of Natural and Applied Sciences with Ten (10) Departments and Faculty of Social and Management Sciences with Five (5) Departments, all totalling
Twenty-Eight (28) Departments.
“I am happy to inform you that our University admitted One Thousand Five Hundred and Forty (1540) Students as Foundation students who are matriculating today to the glory of God and Mankind.
“The University had recruited about Two Hundred and Twenty-Six (226) Staff, including Academic Staff, Senior Non-Teaching staff and Junior Staff to enhance service delivery in actualising the core mandates of the University in Teaching, Research and Community Engagement,” the VC said.
The VC also challenged the pioneer matriculating students to ensure they approach their studies with discipline, integrity, resilience and innovation.
