Asiwaju Title: Aragbiji denies removing Ogunwale for Oyetola

The Aragbiji of Iragbiji, Oba Abdur-Rasheed Olabomi, has refuted claims that he removed the former Senator who represented Osun Central, Felix Ogunwale as the Asiwaju of Iragbiji in order to confer the title on the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Mr Gboyega Oyetola.

The monarch while addressing his subjects in a video, said Senator Ogunwale resigned from the position voluntarily, adding that the post remains vacant.

Oba Olabomi in the video said contrary to insinuations from some quarters, Oyetola who is the former governor of Osun State was not coveting the Asiwaju title.

The monarch disclosed that he had already conferred another chieftaincy title on Oyetola since 2008, adding that it was the Minister who said he did not want to make it public.

“The position of Asiwaju of Iragbiji is vacant but we are not ready to install anybody to that position now.

“It was Senator Felix Ogunwale who resigned and said he is no longer interested. I was not the one who removed him.

“Some people are spreading lies that I removed Senator Ogunwale as Asiwaju in order to install former Governor Gboyega Oyetola. That is a lie.

“I conferred a chieftaincy title on Oyetola in 2008 but he said he doesn’t want people to know. However, it was not Asiwaju’s title that I gave him. He has the letter of appointment. The only thing remaining is the traditional rites,” the monarch stated in the video.
