Gunmen who kidnapped two indigenes of Ora-Igbomina, Sunday Oyekanmi Adeyeye (Tayese) and Sunday Busayo Adewumi, from their residence on February 1, 2026, have released them after payment of ransom.
This was confirmed by the Asiwaju of Ora-Igbomina, Yemi Farounbi.
Ambassador Farounbi in a statement he personally signed, expressed deep gratitude to God for their safe return after four weeks in captivity.
He described their freedom as a huge relief to their families and the entire Ora-Igbomina community, noting that their abduction period was filled with anxiety, intense prayers, and widespread concern.
He praised the courage and endurance of the victims and appreciated the overwhelming support, solidarity, and prayers offered by community members at home and in the diaspora.
“Although several millions of naira were paid as ransom, along with a motorcycle and mobile phones, we give thanks to God that they are alive and back with us safely,” he stated.
