The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has hit back at Governor Ademola Adeleke over his claim that his predecessor, Gboyega Oyetola was behind the ‘illegal’ occupation of Osun council secretariat by council officials elected under the APC.
The party in a statement by its director of media, Kola Olabisi, also said Governor Adeleke has no right to make a case for the local government administration in the state, since the Supreme Court judgement has given a full and unconditional autonomy of the local government councils to the council executives.
The statement cautioned Adeleke to stop blaming his inability to perform effectively in the office on Oyetola, adding that the Governor was behind the withholding of the statutory allocation meant for the local governments in the state.
“Has Governor Adeleke forgotten that his government is also having various suits against a commercial bank, praying the bank not to release the allocations to the reinstated APC council chairmen and councillors, which is causing untold suffering at the local government council areas in the state?
“One wonders in what capacity Governor Adeleke is making a case for the local government administration in the state when it is obvious that the Supreme Court judgment has given a full and unconditional autonomy of the local government councils to the council executives?
“Governor Adeleke should stop acting as a meddlesome interloper in the issue of the local government as he lacks locus standi to make a case for them in the spirit of the complete autonomy granted to them by the Supreme Court.
“We also want to impress it on Governor Adeleke to henceforth stop blaming his inability to perform effectively in the office on our leader, the immediate-past governor of the state, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, whose achievements in the various sectors are verifiably written in gold,” the statement noted.
