2026: Adeleke will be defeated even if he teams up with Aregbesola – APC chieftain

By Tunde Olamilekan

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Osun State, Chief Abiola Ogundokun, says Governor Ademola Adeleke will be defeated in the August 08, 2026, election even if he teams up with the National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola.

Ogundokun said an alliance between Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party and ex-Governor Rauf Aregbesola of the African Democratic Congress will not stop the APC from winning next year’s governorship election in Osun State.

The Octogenarian stated this in a statement obtained on Sunday.

He described any possible consultation between the PDP and ADC as “jittery maneuvers disguised as strategic alliances,” insisting that the APC remains the state’s most disciplined and stable political structure.

osun.life reports that there have been reports of a meeting between the governor and Aregbesola on possible alliance. However, in a statement last week, Adeleke’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, dismissed the APC’s claims as false.

However, in his statement on Sunday, Ogundokun further mocked Adeleke, saying, “When a sitting governor starts begging to align with other political parties, it shows that the end of the road is near. It is a clear sign of dwindling popularity, desperation, and fear of imminent defeat.”

“It is laughable that the Osun PDP, which once boasted of being the party to beat, is now running helter-skelter, pleading for partnerships merely to stay afloat ahead of 2026.”
