Owoeye condemns widespread looting, says Osun still a safe haven for investment

Michael Adeyemo

The Speaker State of Osun House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Timothy Owoeye has condemned the wide spread looting and vandalisation of private and public property in the state.

He called on Osun youth to give dialogue and peace a chance in the interest of state development as envisaged by Osun founding fathers.

The Speaker in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Kunle Alabi held that lessons have been learnt in the past few days and that youths can build a better society without first bringing it to ashes.

Owoeye noted that the wanton looting and destruction by some few youths will do the state no good but put a clog in the wheels of development and progress.

He posited that peaceful protest is a constitutional rights of every citizen, but it seized to be legitimate when it becomes an avenue for looting and destruction of our collective heritage.

Owoeye while commiserating with individuals and the private sector over the temporary set back assured investors that the Oyetola-led administration is on top of the situation of making investments safe as ever in the state.

He also commended security agencies for calming the tensed situation without brute force, saying the minimal force exhibited is well appreciated by all and sundry in Osun.

The Speaker said, “I want to appeal to our Youth and their counterparts in the country to remain calm and peaceful. We should be law abiding and stop indulging in the destruction of public or private property and investments.”

“Let’s the voice of unity drown those of disunity, Nigeria will be great together. We all have our strengths and weaknesses. We can harmonize positions and get stronger.”

“Lessons are being learnt, may we never be counted among
those supervising the dismemberment of our state, together we can build a better Osun and Nigeria without first bringing it to ashes.”
