The Commissioner for Youths and Sports in Osun State, Hon. Yemi Lawal has promised that the upcoming youth interactive session with Governor Gboyega Oyetola will bring about rapid development.
According to a release by the Ministry of Youths and Sports, Governor Oyetola is joining the rest of the world to celebrate this year’s 2020 International youth day themed “youth engagement for global action”. The Governor is scheduled to on the 12th August, engage and interact with youths via Zoom/Facebook on the special day.
The sub themes to be discussed are post-COVID-19, education, agriculture, entrepreneurial skills, ICT, Health, Commerce, trade and investment, and Sports. Interested participants are enjoined to send questions via internationalyouthday.osun@gmail.com or 07034947260 (WhatsApp).
In a telephone conversation with our correspondent, Hon. Lawal said Governor Oyetola is keen about the genuine development of the Osun Youth and is committed to doing all that he can to make sure they get the best under his administration and in life.
“The first step to meaningful development is dialogue and that is why the Governor is eager to talk to the Youths about what his plans are and how it readily keys into theirs. We have been working round the clock to bring about genuine development to the youth of our State and this interactive session with the Governor will bolster our effort.” Lawal said.
International Youth Day is observed on 12 August every year to raise awareness about the challenges and problems faced by the youth and to celebrate the role of young women and men as essential partners in change across the world.
The day celebrates the youth-led organizations, Governments, young people, and others who are working to transform education and uplift young people worldwide.
International Youth Day was first celebrated in 2000. On this day, several workshops and events are held to spread awareness and celebrate the youth of the world. International Youth Day is celebrated to enhance the talents of the youngsters and to develop unity among the young people across the world.
