Let’s make PDP a winnable platform – Akinbade

By Editor

Former Secretary to the Osun State Government, Alhaji Fatai Akinbade, has implored members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), across the state to ensure making the party a stable platform in order to guarantee its success at future organized elections.

Akinbade, who in the company of one-time governor of the state, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, rejoined the PDP last week, reiterated the need for all members of the party to come together to form a formidable front that could win elections.

He stated these on Sunday at his GRA, Osogbo residence while playing host to the PDP Executive from his council area, Ola-Oluwa Local Government, led by the Chairman, Mr Sunday Oyedeji and a State Officer of the party, Mr Muftau Buraimoh, popularly called Gija, who paid him homage.

According to him, politics is a game of number that could never be played alone or isolation, stressing, “Nobody claps with one hand. Politics is never played in self-isolation. It’s a game of togetherness and number. So, we have to come together for us to have excellent showings at the polls”

The former SSG therefore appealed to them close ranks and do away with factions, assuring that he would work relentlessly towards ensuring the oneness of the party.

“My mission, is to once again, see the PDP stabilised as a party. This is because, without having a stable platform, we cannot talk of winning any election. Yes, we must first get the basics, right. This, I so much believe, we can achieve if we all come together” he maintained

Speaking earlier while formally welcoming the former SSG back into PDP, the local government party Chairman, Mr Sunday Oyedeji and a State Officer, Mr Muftau Buraimoh, expressed their happiness over the move made by Akinbade and Oyinlola to rejoin the PDP.

Oyedeji and Buraimoh who spoke separately, urged Akinbade to swing into action with a view to reconciling all warring factions in the local government, imploring him to forgive them for their past political misdeeds against him.

They said it had become imperative for Akinbade to lead them back to the path of victory, deploring that since he left the PDP with his supporters, the party has not made any headway at successive polls in the local government like they used to do.

“Sir,we are indeed very happy you are back into our fold. PDP is a house you built as foundation member and since you left, the party has been in jeopardy. Your return into the party at this point in time, is divine and we believe that God shall use to bring us and the party, back on track. To us, you are a big fish, not only in Osun but Nigeria as a whole. We are proud to have you as our own and from this moment, we want to pledge our loyalty and allegiance to you” they assured
