Osun Govt reopens Baptist High School Osogbo

The State Government of Osun, under the leadership of Mr. Adegboyega Oyetola, has approved the re-opening of Baptist Government High School, Gbodofon, Osogbo.

In a press statement signed by the Honourable Commissioner for Education, Hon. Folorunsho Oladoyin disclosed that the decision to reopen the school was followed by appeals from stakeholders and leaders of thoughts who were convinced that the students have learnt their lessons and have shown remorse over the unruly behaviour that led to the closure of the school last year.

While addressing the teachers of the school, the Coordinating Director Osun central Education District Office, Mrs Comfort Osungbohun urged the teachers to cooperate with the Principals of the school in instilling discipline to the students.

Mrs Osungbohun advised that teachers should see themselves as role models that the students look up to and constantly make themselves available in redirecting the steps of the students aright.

Speaking in an interview, the PTA Chairman, Comrade Bisi Olaniyan, thanked the government for dimming it fit to reopen the school and advised the students to be of good behaviour henceforth.

Also speaking, the Principal, Baptist Government High School, Mrs Bunmi Obafemi said teaching and learning activities will begin with immediate effect, disclosing that security measures have been put in place to prevent such events from reoccurring.

Mrs Obafemi explained that Students will henceforth be kept busy with teaching and learning activities, pointing out that an idle mind is a devil’s workshop.

A biology teacher in the school, Mrs Awogbade Oyindamola also appreciated the state government for reopening the school, promising that the teachers will ensure that they help the students cover up for the time they missed during the closure of the school.
