Oyetola to submit 2020 budget on Thursday

By Joseph Akanbi

The Executive Governor of Osun, Gboyega Oyetola would on Thursday, November 14 present the 2020 Appropriation Bill to the State House of Assembly.

The event which was earlier scheduled for today has been shifted to Thursday, the shift was necessary as the Federal Government has declared a public holiday for today’s Eid-el-Maulud.

Eid el-Maulud is the celebration of birthday of Prophet Muhammad PBUH. The Prophet was said to have left a practical and shining example of trust while discharging his ministry on earth.

The Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Timothy Owoeye, had during the last plenary of the house said the rule stipulates that the Draft Budget should be presented to the State Assembly for consideration and approved before the end of the year preceding the commencement of such budget estimates for the fiscal year.

The 2020 appropriation bill will be Oyetola’s second budget, recall that on 28 December 2018, Governor Oyetola presented a N152.7bn budget to the state House of Assembly for the 2019 fiscal year tagged ‘Budget of Hope’.

Oyetola will be the third Governor in the South West to submit the 2020 budget after Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State and Babajide Sanwoolu of Lagos State.
