The Governor of Osun State, Adegboyega Oyetola has enjoined residents to accept and participate in the Osun Health Insurance Scheme (O’HIS), designed to achieve the objective of accessibility, availability and affordability of quality health care delivery for the people of the state.

Oyetola made the appeal during the courtesy visit of the Osun Health Insurance Scheme team led by the Executive Secretary for the agency, Dr. Adeniyi Oginni.

The Governor while affirming that health is wealth, stated that workers and all other people in the state don’t have to go far to get adequate health care.

This according to him is to complement the efforts of the government in the recent revitalization of 332 primary healthcare centers, with one healthcare center located in each ward in the state.

While adding that this is not to allow too much of migration from primary to the secondary and tertiary health institution, Governor Oyetola restated that his government is committed to the healthcare of the people by providing an enabling environment with support of counterpart funding and grant by the government.

“As a government, we are committed to providing an enabling environment with the approval of grant, payment of counterpart funding, approval to roll out and other necessary contribution needed to support the healthcare delivery for the people”.

He stated that access to quality healthcare with insurance scheme is accepted and practiced nationally and internationally for the benefit of the people.

The governor called on Osun citizens to avail themselves in order to benefit immensely from the scheme, targeted to promote healthy living which tends towards healthy living.

“We encourage everyone to key into it, because everybody knows that health is wealth. This is not about government just doing this service to healthcare, but for everyone to have a very healthy state, and I urge all of us to benefit immensely from the Health Insurance Scheme, because good health makes people to live longer”.

The governor reiterated his commitment to the welfare of the people of Osun, particularly on healthy living, while urging everyone to wholeheartedly accept and benefit from Osun Health Insurance Scheme (O’HIS) to enjoy free medical health care at reduced cost.

Dr. Adeniyi Oginni informed Governor Gboyega Oyetola that 127,000 vulnerable persons have been captured for the Osun Health Insurance Scheme while he commended the government for the attention paid on provision of adequate healthcare system for the people of the state.
