In keeping to his promise to ensure stable academic calendar in all the state-owned tertiary institutions, Governor of Osun State, Mr. Gboyega Oyetola, has approved the sum of three hundred million naira for the Ladoke Akintola University (LAUTECH), for the payment of salary of workers of the joint own institution.
This was gathered by osun.life from a reliable source within the government who spoke with our correspondent.
About a year ago, the institution was in a protracted strike for months which became so prominent that stakeholders especially the students and academic staff were calling on the federal government to take over the institution from both Oyo and Osun states over some challenges such as rapidly decaying infrastructure, non- payment of EAA, accumulated arrears of salaries and promotions as well as increase in tuition fees.
The Ladoke Akintola University of Technology is an autonomous public institution with the general function of providing liberal higher education and encouragement to the rapid advancement of learning throughout Nigeria.
According to Wikipedia, the university enrolls 25,000 students and employs more than 3,000 workers including contract staff.
