Osun: Oyetola pledges to insure public assets

The Governor of Osun State, Gboyega Oyetola, has pledged his support for the development of insurance profession and assured that the enormous material and human assets of the state would be duly preserved and enhanced through effective management of risks which fall within the confines of the insurance industry.

Speaking during his conferment as fellow of the Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers (NCRIB) in Osogbo, the governor, who assured insurance brokers of patronage by the state, noted that the importance of insurance to the development of any nation could not be undermined, affirming that the business ensures continuity of other businesses, especially after any form of calamity.

Reacting to the recent judgment of the Supreme Court that validated his election as governor, hr stated that the victory had finally put to rest all disturbances against his determination to serve the people of the state diligently.

While promising not disappoint the industry as a professional in politics, he said the award of fellow by the council would further spur him to work assiduously.

Speaking earlier, the President, Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers (NCRIB), Shola Tinubu, enjoined the governor to introduce insurance education in all secondary schools across the state to further entrench insurance as a course in the minds of the teeming youth, who are leaders of tomorrow.

Tinubu commended the governor for his diligent commitment to the council and particularly, for personally writing the dissertation that partly qualified him for the award in consonance with the council’s fellowship statutory requirement.

He lamented the attitude of many Nigerians to the patronage of insurance products, adding that insurance had not been given its place of priority in the economy of the nation.

The president further stressed the importance of insurance brokers as the only professional arm of the industry that could be trusted with the nitty-gritty of insurance transaction, adding that the expected change should start from Osun state.
