Tribunal Judgement: Supporters keep Faith as APC, PDP go spiritual

By Joseph Akanbi

Ahead of Friday’s judgment of the govenorship election petition tribunal for Osun State, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), have started offering prayers for a favourable ruling.

Leading the spiritual warfare for the APC are members of sociopolitical groups, Asiwaju Grassroot Foundation (AGF) and Giomania. The groups will on Thursday March 21 organise a special prayer for Governor Oyetola’s victory at the Tribunal. The special prayer which will hold at the old Muslim prayer ground, opposite Osogbo Local Government Secretariat will have in attendance leadership of the party, stalwarts, Government Officials, National Assembly members elect, State Assembly members elect among others.

Also, a quick sampling within the hierarchy of the Peoples Democratic Party in Osun State, shows that majority of the members have embarked on a fasting and prayer which started on Tuesday, ended today with a prayer session of party faithfuls drawn from all over the State.

Recall that Senator Adeleke had approached the tribunal headed by Justice T.A Igoche, to nullify the victory of Governor Gboyega Oyetola, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and declare him the winner of the poll because he polled the highest number of lawful votes cast and met other requirements of the law.

Oyetola, the APC and the Independent National Electoral Commission, are the respondents in the 593-page petition with file EPT/OS/Gov/1/2018.
