Babayemi berates OYES, says scheme is unfit for Osun people

Prince Dotun Babayemi, a chieftain of the All Democratic Party (ADP) and Osun West Senatorial Aspirant, has rubbished the All Progressives Congress’ Osun Youth Empowerment Scheme, saying it was not the kind of employment that could alleviate poverty in the state.

He made this known while featuring on a radio programme ‘Frank Talk’ , which was monitored by osun.life on Rave 91.7Fm, Oshogbo on Monday.

The Gbongan-born entrepreneur who joined ADP from the APC, took a swipe at his former party’s empowerment programme, saying the larger percentage of the scheme’s employees were still roaming the street after several months of participating in it.

In his words, “I am an entrepreneur, I have employed over 28,000 people across the country. I and the Governor understand what we need to do here to get people employed.

“Empowerment is not employing 60,000 OYES cadet and paying them N10,000. That is not what we want for our children in Osun. We want them to get real job. We want them to be able to participate actively in the economy.

“The last 40,000 that were employed and discharged in the OYES cadet, 80% of them are unemployed now, they are not doing anything meaningful. We want real industry here and we are going to make that happen,” Babayemi added.
