Elated by the gesture of Oyo and Osun State Governments towards ending the crisis besetting Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (Lautech),Ogbomoso, the National Alumni Association of the institution has commended the owner states on their renewed commitments towards funding of the university.

The association’s commendation is coming  on the heels of the N1billion released to the university  by the Osun State Governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola and the one being expected from Senator Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo this coming week.

Specifically, the alumni through its National President, Chief Babajide Bewaji in a statement made available to The Controversy, while giving the commendation, implored the stakeholders to ensure all hands were on desk to enable the institution to recover the lost grounds.

Bewaji who equally admonished that the institution’s challenges must not be allowed to weigh it down, predicted a brighter future for the university, stressing, “this is just a phase that is passing already”

He also commended the commitment of Prof Dapo Afolabi led Governing Council, urging it not to rest on it oars “so as to help create various robust platforms for the university to aggressively generate revenues to complement the subventions from the owner states in the meantime”

The National President also enjoined the students to put the past behind them by being forward looking “because the future holds so much for them”

Bewaji also appealed to the staffers of the institution to continue to endure the steaming challenges occasioned by the present harsh economic situation, noting,”there is always an expiry date for every problem”

He condemned in a strong terms, the petition written by a group called Concerned Stakeholders to the state governors which urged them to invoke a ‘No-Work-No-Pay’ policy.

The President warned the group to desist from any action capable of destroying the fragile peace on the campus, charging, “the call is unnecessary and uncalled for. All steps and actions to strengthen the university should only be pursued at this critical time”
