The Osun Government has warned residents of the state against bush burning during the harmattan period.
The warning is contained in a statement signed by Mr Oluyemi Olarewaju, the General Manager of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) on Thursday in Osogbo.
Olarewaju said the warning became necessary to prevent any activities that could cause fire outbreak in the state during the harmattan period, saying, “prevention is better than cure.”
The general manager also warned against careless handling of electrical appliances at homes.
Besides, Olarewaju urged private and commercial drivers to always exercise caution while driving early in the morning due to the cloudy atmosphere that usually accompany harmattan season.
He also warned motorists to avoid keeping fuel inside their cars.
The general manager added that motorists should also ensure that their headlight are on while driving for clear vision in order to avoid road accidents.(NAN)
