Bewaji advises more attention on health sector funding

By Mustapha Aleem

A regional group head of the United Bank for Africa, UBA, Mr Babajide Bewaji, has called on government to dedicate more funds to the health sector in order to improve the productivity of the sector.

He made this known in an interview with our correspondent on the sidelines of the Nigeria Medical Association inauguration programme at the Atlantis Event Centre in Osogbo.

Bewaji said, “I want to commend the Nigeria Medical Association in Osun state for the significant roles they have been playing in the state and I can only appeal to government to dedicate more funds to the sector. This is the bane of every organisation.

“As a matter of fact, we don’t have to depend on government alone for everything. Nothing stops private individual from collaborating with the government. They cannot do it all alone.

“Aregbesola as a governor is trying his own bit in the health sector but the need for qualitative healthcare arising from the people are numerous and this cannot make the perspiration of his hen evident.”
