The Accord Party in Osun State has accused the factional National Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo, and some members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, of plotting a violent takeover of motor parks in the state.
The party alleged that the plot was aimed at causing a statewide breakdown of law and order.
State Chairman of Accord in Osun, Pastor Victor Akande, in a statement on Sunday, said credible reports from various motor parks mentioned MC Oluomo as the mastermind of the plot, using his surrogate, Kazeem Oyewale, popularly called Asiri Eniba.
He alleged that Akinsanya illegally issued a new certificate of leadership to Oyewale when the tenure of the incumbent executives was yet to lapse, a move designed to encourage violent actions across the parks and frustrate the state government’s plan to put in place a Park Management System.
Akande said Governor Ademola Adeleke took the right decision by suspending NURTW operations across motor parks and announcing the imminent creation of a Park Management System, noting that the decision was to stop factional warfare following the killing of Mr Olalekan Oyeyemi.
The party therefore called on the Presidency and the Inspector General of Police to rein in Akinsanya, warning that he would be held accountable for any breakdown of law and order in the state.
It also commended the Commissioner of Police for his intervention to maintain peace and charged security agencies to enforce the governor’s directive that all NURTW factions vacate the motor parks and to secure all parks to prevent another round of factional warfare.
