A Former Commissioner for Information and Strategy in Osun state, Honourable Sunday Akere has disclosed that his Party, the Action Democratic Party (ADP), played a neutral role during the September 27 Osun State Governorship supplementary election.
Akere made this known while featuring in a Yoruba current affairs programme (Agba Oselu) on Rave 91.7 FM in Oshogbo, on Monday.
The ADP chieftain noted that his party refused to support either of the two parties (APC and PDP), that took part in the September 27 supplementary election across the seven polling units in four local government area.
“We were approached by the leaders of both parties on the eve of the rerun election. The president sent emissaries from Abuja led by The Secretary General of the Federation, Mr Boss Mustapha to persuade our leaders to work with them, we told them we are not leaving our party and that we are going to play a neutral role, but we wish both parties the best of luck”
Akere however denied any monetary inducement, saying they were approached with ticket slots and appointments, an offer they turned down to build the Party.
