The Nigerian Police ahead of today’s rerun of the Osun Governorship election has warned against thuggery and violence, saying the police would resist this vehemently.
The Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Operations of Police, Habila Joshak made this know during a press briefing at the Force Headquarters in Oshogbo, Osun State.
Mr. Joshak who said “the police has an intelligence report that there is a grand plan to turn the election gruesomely violence and deadly by arming thugs to unleash mayhem at the polling centres. As law enforcement agencies, the Police and other security agencies would not permit the breakdown of law and order. Those of them preparing for “fire for fire”must be ready to bear the consequences of their actions which designed to undermine this particular democratic process.”
The Police Boss concluded by saying only the voters and accredited officials will be allowed at the polling unit where voting would take place and therefore warned everybody else to keep off.
