The former Commissioner for Information and Strategy in Osun State, Honourable Sunday Akere, has refuted the claims that Action Democratic Party (ADP) is an off shoot of the All Progressive Congress (APC), saying ADP was a different party completely, but also a progressive party.
Akere who was one of the Governorship aspirant of the APC, before pitching his tent with the Action Democratic party (ADP) alongside the Former Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Moshood Adeoti, Dr Wale Bolorunduro and some State Executives of the party.
He stated this while featuring on a radio programme Frank Talk on Rave 91.7FM, which was monitored by osun.life in Oshogbo.
He said “first we must correct the misconception. ADC has nothing to do with the APC, they are different from each other. I am telling you what I know. They have nothing to do with each other.
“The reason why some people are having that kind of misconception is because people like us that were chieftains of the APC before moving to the ADP. This party was registered last year and I want to say this is the first major election ADP is contesting in Nigeria and the reason is clear, we stand for justice, equity and fairness and that’s what we were preaching while in APC, but what we got lately is a situation where our leaders around here believe that anything goes and in a situation like this we can’t continue to fold our arms and allow some people to ride-horse us,”
“Osun will be 27 in few days, we believe that is what is right and that is what pushed us out and looking at the background you will see that we are progressive. ADP is a progressive party too, but they are completely different from the APC. Today, in Nigeria we have about 91 parties, so if you have somebody moving from one party to the other, that doesn’t mean anything because each party have different outlook, the chairman of ADP is Engineer Yayagi while that of APC is Adams Oshiomole, so they have nothing to do with each other,” Akere added.
