A gubernatorial aspirant under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Akin Ogunbiyi, has reaffirmed his loyalty and commitment to the party.
Ogunbiyi who spoke at an enlarged stakeholders meeting of his campaign organisation which held in his hometown of Ile Ogbo, insisted that he won the governorship primary of the party which produced Senator Ademola Adeleke.
The aspirant who took time to explain efforts by the National Leadership of the party to reconcile his camp with that of the Adeleke’s, said he never requested for any position and that it was the leadership in his wisdom that offered his camp some positions including that of the Deputy Governorship candidate so as to pacify them and unite the party.
However, he lamented the attitude of the Adelekes in failing to get Hon. Albert Adeogun to withdraw his nomination as Deputy Governorship candidate to pave way for someone from his camp.
Furthermore, Ogunbiyi, who commended latest efforts by the Senate President, Bukola Saraki and Former Senate President, David Mark, to unite the party in Osun, said it is the Adeleke camp that needs reconciliation and not his.
The Insurance magnate said after exhausting all internal mechanism of the party to restore his mandate, he
remains committed to the ideals and progress of the party, saying PDP is the only hope of Nigeria.
Lastly, the PDP Chieftain dismissed speculations about his possible defection, saying he has nothing against the Adeleke family and further enjoined his supporters to unite and work for the success of the party.
