The Osun State Secretary of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Elder Femi Awe, has described the the purported suspension of himself and the State Chairman, Mr Ademola Isola as ruse and kangaroo.
Elder Awe who alongside the State Chairman, was suspended by the national headquarter because of their resistance to accommodate and give Senator Iyiola Omisore a soft landing at the State chapter of the party, spoke against the suspension by blaming PDP entrants into the party.
“Is there any allegations levied against us? Some people may be cooking lies or trying to falsify information, because they have ambition, they are looking for something which they believe this is what they will do just they can have it, you see our constitution is very straight forward about all this things,”
“Our constitution says you cannot be suspended by those people that didn’t elected you in the first place, so if those people, few of them that are talking of suspension, they don’t have base, they don’t have home, if any body is to be suspended in SDP of today where I am since 2014, it has to come from the base, those people that elected you from your home, direct all what you have done to the local government or ward and then give you fair trial and then send the trial to the state, if the state chairman and state Secretary has been suspended who signed their suspension order? The apex cannot suspend the base so it is all ruse and kangaroo, so that’s why am in my office there’s nothing shaking me.” He added
He berated the PDP element that joined the party and wanted to take over the structure of the party in flagrant disobedience to the laid down rules and constitution of the party.
However, the party’s national headquarter has recognised Dr Bayo Faforiji as the new State Chairman of the party in a congress held in Oshogbo and supervised by the national headquarter, INEC and the security agencies.
