Osun state chairman of the People’s Democratic party Hon Soji Adagunodo has assured workers in the state that the PDP will restore the independence, efficiency and honour of the workforce and especially the civil service when elected into office in the September 22nd Governorship election.
In his goodwill message to workers on the occasion of this year’s workers day, Adagunodo said it was painful that the APC administration had eroded the core values of the civil service and terribly marginalised workers in the running of the state in the last 7 years.
He condemned the Aregbesola-administration for serially diverting funds meant for payment of workers and retirees salaries and allowances while spending huge sums of money on his own comfort and pleasure.
It is on record that in 7 and half years of the PDP administration in Osun state, workers had no cause to worry about promotion and welfare matters which have now become luxuries due to the insensitivity of the present government.
It is sad to note that the state’s health sector for example has gone on strike for a cummulative period of over 269 days in the last 7 years due to the failure of government to abide by the terms of agreement freely reached between it and the various unions in the industry.
Same disruptions resulting from breach of agreements and clear violation of Labour laws have happened in the Education, judicial and other sectors within the same period.
The PDP chairman however charged leaders of the Labour to remain steadfast in hope that the PDP will once again come into office to restore their dignity and honour their rights to decent wages and better condition of service.
He congratulated the entire workforce on the occasion of Workers Day and prayed that God sustains them in good health and harmony to reap the fruits of their Labour.
