Whenever a final history of Osun state is written. I am certain the name of Dr. Olu Alabi will feature in a prominent passage in the history book. He is one of the champions that birthed the creation of Osun state through his movement called “Movement of the creation of Osun state”. The medical Doctor cum politician, symbolizes the very best of professionalism in a clime where merit is rewarded. He trained as medical Doctor from the University of Ibadan and later proceeded to the famous John Hopkins Medical School, Baltimore, Maryland in the United States of America to further seek more knowledge in his medical career.
Senator Olu Alabi practiced as a medical officer in various hospitals in Ilorin at Wesley guild hospital and General hospital Ilorin, he later moved to the Armed force hospital in Kaduna. Because of his exceptional service, he was appointed as the commissioner for health in the old Oyo state.
His drive to reduce unemployment among the teeming youth and to provides solution to his immediate environment’s problem. Prompted him to start Alba pharmaceutical and chemical company and Electro-medical equipment company and Alba medical group in Kaduna. Where hundreds of youth are gainfully employed.
His passion for agriculture and zeal to give back to his society prompted him to birth Olu Farms and industries and Alba Foods and Drinks in GRA, Oshogbo.
To me a successful politician is never the type that will spend all of his years in political office without any traceable carrier or traceable businesses, rather the type that would have built a successful carrier, business and manage various human, before venturing into politics. Senator Olu Alabi is the type of politician youth should look up to in that aspects.
He represented Osun Central senatorial districts as a senator in 1992 and was appointed the chairman Senate committee on health. He’s a member PDP board of trustees and was appointed as Boards of Directors of Federal capital development Authority in the year 2000. Dr Olu Alabi has inserted the word politics into the dictionary of some; who have in turn showers encomiums on him for his birthday.
One of his political children and Governorship aspirant. Olawale Rasheed aptly wrote and I quote. “Happy Birthday to my Leader, Dr. Oluwole Alabi It is with thankfulness to God that I felicitate with our leader, my boss and a founding leader of the People’s Democratic Party, Senator (Dr) Oluwole Alabi as he adds another year today.
Sir, you remain a towering shining symbol of integrity, patriotism and democracy. Ever since you joined public life as a Commissioner for Health in the old Oyo state through your service in Senate of the Federal republic to your years as Chairman of Federal Capital Development Authority, you remain a man of the people with high sense of commitment to state and national development.
You were a principal voice in the creation of Osun state and a determinant factor in the location of its capital and other major decisions at inception. Your great vision for the new state prompted your bid for governorship in 1999. We ran a good race at the 1999 election but our people were hoodwinked. They regretted and reversed that decision in 2003 by voting Prince Oyinlola.
Sir , you are a believer in the potentials of our youth. At barely 30 in 1999, you approved my appointment as the Director of Publicity for the PDP governorship campaign organization. You always told me then that it is time to build a successor generation. Your faith in the new generation was a source of inspiration to many of us in the political process.
I remember our flight in a private jet from Lagos to Kaduna and then to Jos to attend the presidential convention of the PDP ahead of the 1999 Presidential election. Your friend Senator Jubril Martin’s Kuye was the third man in that flight. Your trust and faith in successor generation is unwavering.
Boss, as you add another year today, I wish you more blessings, more prosperity, more blessed health and fruitful years. Happy birthday our dear leader.
Soji Adagunodo, the factional PDP chairman, wrote and I quote. “Today is the Birthday of my leader, our leader , one of the founding fathers of PDP in Osun and Nigeria. We celebrate you TODAY our Distinguished Senator Dr Oluwole Alabi. Congratulations Sir”.
Meanwhile, Dr. Kayode Oduoye, also has this to say about him “Happy Birthday daddy/distinguish Sen( Dr.) Olu Alabi. May this new age usher you into another realm of supernatural season of prosperity, good health, peace and good wisdom to enjoy & live the rest of your days on earth in Jesus name. Amen. For those of us who have known you over the years, we will continue to hold you in very high esteem for your forthrightness, noble integrity and firmness on your convictions for the position of truth in whatever you do. On behalf of the entire Alubarika worldwide, I say congratulations. We celebrate you now and always sir. May God grant you many more fruitful years and enjoy the rest of your days in peace in Jesus name-Amen”
Lastly, Professor Adeolu Durotoye, an ABUAD Provost and 2018 Gubernatorial Aspirant said “I wish my leader, father and mentor a happy birthday. Your impeccable leadership is unparalleled. Many more years in good health and happiness. Igba Odun, Odun Kan”.
