An Osun Magistrate court’s sitting in Osogbo on the 2nd of March 2018 remanded four men to Ilesha prison custody over alleged theft of residents property in Osogbo.
The suspects, namely, Fatai Mumini, 40, Omisakin Sunday, 20, Radius Akeem, 20 and Oguniran Opeyemi,19 appeared before the court on a four-count charge based on theft and conspiracy.
The Prosecutor, Inspector Rasaq Olayiwola stated that the accused persons committed the offense on the 28th of February, 2018 at Isale Osun area, Osogbo. He also stated that the accused all conspired to steal four DVD players, one stabilizer, one TV set, one DSTV decoder, one guitar, two Play Stations, two laptops, one plasma TV, two keyboards, one CPU, one old TV, two standing fans, two speakers, one unregistered Jincheng motorcycle, one Butterfly sewing machine, one sheep and one guitar belonging to one Union Baptist Church, Odi-Olowo valued one hundred and fifty thousand naira.
Inspector Razaq further explained that the offense is contrary to and punishable under Sections 516, 430, 390(9) and 415 of the Criminal code Cap 34 Vol. II Laws of Osun State of Nigeria, 2003. It was also gathered that the accused persons fought vigilantes with incantations and were caught with a life goat. Although, the accused pleaded not guilty to the second, third and fourth count charge.
The Defence Counsel, Mr Okobe Najite applied for bail and asked that the accused persons conditions should be bearable.
However, the Magistrate, Mr Olusegun Ayilara remanded the accused persons to Ilesa prison custody and ordered the Defence Counsel to go for the formal bail application.
He adjourned the case to the 4th of April, 2018 for fact and hearing.
