OsunWestDecides: Exit Poll show Adeleke leading ahead of Hussain

By Editor

With less than twenty four hours to go until the July 8 By-Election, our independent final poll has given Ademola Adeleke a wide lead of up to 29% over arch-rival Mudasiru Hussain. If the results of the poll is anything to go by, the Peoples Democratic Party Candidate is favoured to win the election and replace his late brother, Senator Isiaka Adeleke, who died recently.

The candidates this week embarked on intense campaign, rallies and made their final pleas to the people of Osun West Senatorial District. Rallies and campaigns are held in battleground and swing LGAs where they urged their supporters to get out and vote.

Ademola Adeleke held rallies in Ikire, Apomu, Iwo, Ede – where he campaigned with big names from his party . Senator Hussein meanwhile, stormed Ejigbo, Ikire, Ede and Iwo with top hierarchy of the Osun State Government and the All Progressives Congress (APC) Officials.

With Ademola Adeleke favoured to win Ede North and South Local Government with a landslide. It is expected that the APC candidate will also win his LGA, Ejigbo considering the influence of Rt Hon Najeem Salaam and Prof Mojeed Alabi.

The poll discovered that most voters consider the election to be between them, the Osun people and the current Governor of the State, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola. Very few people interviewed said they were likely to change their minds. They opined their stance on the fact that the performance of the APC led administration in the state has been woeful.  The inability of the present government to effectively manage the resources of the state has thrown a sizeable number of the people in to hunger and penury.

The failure of the administration to also address the salary and pension crisis with the workers and retirees is costing the APC a tough time in selling the candidacy of Senator Hussain. The young educated voters are angry with the APC administration in the state, the failure of the government to effectively address the LAUTECH strike issue is also a major thorn blocking the return of Senator Mudasiru to the upper chamber.
