………describes panel as kangaroo
By Dayo Omolola
The family of the late Senator Isiaka Adeleke has allegedly spurned the summon of the coroner inquest put in place by the Rauf Aregbesola Government aimed at unearthing the mystery behind the sudden demise of the erstwhile governor of the state.
With this development, The Controversy reliably gathered that Dr Deji Adeleke and his sister, Mrs Dupe Adeleke -Sani who were billed to appear before the panel today, Wednesday, 10th May, 2017, due to the coroner summons, may have decided to shun the inquest.
On Monday (8th May, 2017) , the Magistrate Olusegun Ayodele Ayilara led panel when it had its first sitting, summoned six people who are billed to appear before it on the Wednesday, 10th May, 2017 at premises of the state high court, Osogbo.
Those originally summoned include Dr Deji Adeleke, his sister, Mrs Dupe Adeleke Sani, the Chief Medical Directors of Lautech Teaching Hospital, Osogbo and Biket Hospital, Osogbo as well as the Executive Secretary, Ede South Local Government.
While the bailiffs were said to have succeeded in given out the summons to the other four, they were however said to have met brick walls when they got to the Adeleke’s family.
Specifically, The Controversy was informed that the family did not only reject the summons, but equally poured expletives on the Aregbesola administration and allegedly described the panel as “kangaroo ” .
Reliable sources further informed our correspondent that Mrs Dupe Adeleke who was said to have addressed the bailiffs on behalf of her brother, Dr Deji and other members of the family, was said to have rained curses on the Aregbesola government.
“Go and tell those who sent you that we are not interested in your kangaroo and useless panel ” the sister of Dr Adeleke who was equally summoned, was quoted to have told the bailiffs.
However, the state Commissioner of Police, the Chief Medical Directors of Lautech Osogbo and Biket Hospital Osogbo as well as the Executive Secretary of the Ede South Local Government, are said to have accepted the summons.
Since the death of Senator Adeleke on Sunday 23rd April, 2017, the relationship between the family and the state government had been strained, especially with various insinuations in different quarters concerning the death.
This necessitated the state government to appoint a coroner to look into what led to the demise of the former governor.
The family of the deceased led by Dr Deji at a press brief last week, castigated the government for playing the Ostrich on the death of the former Senator.
This development has created fresh tension between the Adeleke Family and the Aregbesola led administration.
When contacted,an aide to the late Senator who preferred anonymity, said he was not ready to be drawn into the raging controversy, stressing,”For God sake, can’t people just leave this family alone for this period? We are mourning a great man that we lost. Indeed, the times are bad for us here. So we need some respite, please “.
