The Omoluabi Giants forced the Harmony Boys of Kwara to a barren draw in a friendly match on played on Wednesday at the Osogbo City Stadium.
The match, witch started slightly behind schedule, was watched by an impressive number of football enthusiasts from within and outside Osogbo.
Although, it ended without either side finding the back of the net, it showcased the quality possessed by the home side, especially with a disciplined back line.
The Harmony Boys dominated a chunk of the possession in the half of the game but the home had a shock absorber to neutralise the attacking antics of the visiting team.
Kwara United also pose the first threat with a run of play but Odudu Sunday’s strike was so weak to beat Samson Awomodu in goal for home side.
However, the home side responded quickly when a pass from Ashiru Kunle found Adeyemi Adeyeye slightly outside the area, before Adeyemi turned and subsequently unleashed a ferocious shot towards the right angle of the post, saw his effort rattled the cross bar in the eighth minute.
Shortly after the start of the second half of the game, the home side dictated the pace of the game but could only find their beautiful string of efforts from the defence to the attack kissing the opponent’s goal post when Dangbin Gosselle, was released by a pass in the 18 yard.
This, was the home side’s first draw at home in three matches after piping Kogi United 1-0 over the weekend.
In his post match interview, the Osun United’s Manager, Duke Udi, expressed delight over the result of the game, saying his wards played a beautiful game.
He said, the team would continue working hard for they had a task to play in the elite league.
According to him, “We played better than Kwara United FC and I think our team is in the making.I’m impressed with my wards performance and I have taken lots of positives from the contest against Kwara United.
“We’ll keep working hard, because we’ve a task to get the team to the elite league.”
