The Senator Olasunkanmi Akinlabi Rasheed (SOAR) Foundation has completed the maiden edition of its Digital Literacy Empowerment Programme. It would be recalled that the digital training kicked off in October, 2016.
The programme which was held in conjunction with Pentagon Solutions Nigeria, First City Monument Bank and Kimpact Development Initiative had participants from the three senatorial districts of Osun State.
In a graduation dinner ceremony held recently at Leisure Spring Hotel, members of the SOAR Foundation, the trainees and members of the public, gathered to discuss the objectives and impact of the programme. They took turns to share their thoughts on how beneficial it has been and the need for sustainability of the programme.
The project coordinator who is also the head of Pentagon Solutions Nigeria, Mr Joseph Akanbi, thanked SOAR Foundation for the initiative, saying it couldn’t have come at a better time. He said “digital literacy is a new way of life and it is imperative for all classes of people to be in tune with the latest technological advancement.
The Chairman of the Foundation, Senator Akinlabi Olasunkanmi said “I am full of thanks for God’s blessings and it is important for me to extend it to others, I call for collective effort from good hearted people to help reduce the current rate of unemployment in Nigeria. Digital Literacy is a vital tool in nation building and development and I am happy that we’ve been able to complete the first batch of the process”.
A representative of the beneficiaries, Mr Popoola Timlehin, said ” I thank the Foundation for the insight and genuine commitment to Youth Education and Development which tossed our knowledge to another height thereby making us to get a means for ourselves”.
Lastly, certificates were presented to all the participants.
