Two women were on Tuesday ordered to be remanded in Ilesa Prisons by an Osogbo Magistrate’s’ Court for disrespecting the court.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Olusola Aluko, ordered the accused, Cecilia Okoli, 25, and Elizabeth Ankira, 30, to be kept behind bars for contempt of court without an option of fine.
Aluko revoked the bail application by the Defence Counsel and ordered that the accused be kept behind bars .
The magistrate ordered the accused persons to be coming to court from the prison.
Earlier, the Prosecutor, Insp. Taiwo Adegoke, told the court that the accused persons committed the offence on Nov. 25 at about 9.a.m., at the Osogbo Magistrates’ Court.
Adegoke said the accused refused to show up in their case number in MOS/ 359c/ 2016 when it was called by the court clerk.
He said the offence contravened Section 133 of the criminal code cap 34 vol.11 laws of Osun, 2003.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty.
Counsel to the accused, Mr Najite Okobie, prayed the court to allow the bail conditions of his clients to continue.
