Amotekun arrests herbalist, four others over theft, burglary in Osun

The Osun Amotekun Corps has arrested five suspects in connection with alleged theft, conspiracy, burglary, and fraud across the state.

The suspects are Adebisi Olalere, 30; Isiaka Yinusa, 33; Farika Azeez, 30; Daniel Moses, 30; and Monday Lawrence, 30.

Osun Amotekun spokesperson, Yusuf Idowu, in a statement on Saturday, said the suspects were apprehended on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, following complaints lodged with the Corps in different locations.

The statement noted that Olalere, a herbalist from Gbongan, was arrested for allegedly conspiring with armed robbers and providing them with traditional charms to aid their operations.

Idowu said the herbalist was arrested alongside Yinusa, also from Gbongan, who was apprehended over an alleged shop burglary.

The Corps described Yinusa as an ex-convict who had previously served a jail term for motorcycle theft.

Both suspects were said to have confessed to the offences during preliminary interrogation.

In another incident, Azeez, from Modakeke, was arrested for allegedly stealing a gas cylinder and other items.

The Corps said Azeez is also an ex-convict who had served a jail term for a similar offence. He allegedly admitted to the crime.

The remaining two suspects, Moses and Lawrence, both from Benue State and residing in Ipinrindo, Atakumosa East Local Government Area, were arrested for allegedly stealing iron rods from the Atakumosa East Local Government Secretariat.

The Corps alleged that Moses admitted to the act, revealing that iron rods valued between N50,000 and N100,000 were sold to scrap dealers for between N4,000 and N5,000.

Confirming the arrests, the Corps Commander, Adekunle Omoyele, said preliminary investigations had led to confessional statements, with some suspects mentioning other accomplices.

He urged residents to support security agencies with credible and timely information to prevent crime and maintain peace in the state.

He added that the five suspects have been handed over to appropriate authorities for further investigation and prosecution.
