The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, on Sunday received members of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council led by its Director-General, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, at his Ile Oodua Palace.
A statement by the palace Director of Media, Moses Olafare, noted that Yari, while speaking during the visit, said the delegation was at the palace to seek the Ooni’s blessings and support for President Tinubu’s second-term ambition
The statement stated that the team comprised serving and former governors who are members of the council.
“We are here today to seek the blessings of Your Imperial Majesty. We are committed to working tirelessly to ensure that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu secures a second term in office,” Yari said.
“We know the economic situation Nigeria faced in 2023, and it is getting much better today. We believe Nigerians will give President Tinubu another opportunity, and we are committed to working towards that objective,” he added.
He declared that the council is targeting two million votes for Tinubu in Osun State in the 2027 presidential election.
According to him, the council would work with stakeholders to strengthen grassroots mobilisation to achieve the target.
In his response, the Ooni commended President Tinubu and the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, for their contributions to the Yoruba race.
The monarch described Tinubu as the father of the nation and appreciated his leadership efforts towards national unity and development.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is the father of the nation. He and the First Lady have done very well for the Oduduwa race, and I am happy to receive you all in my palace,” the Ooni stated.
