Why Omisore was absent from APC presidential campaign inauguration – Famurewa

Former National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Senator Iyiola Omisore, has stated that his absence at Wednesday’s inauguration of the party’s Presidential Campaign Council in Abuja was due to prior strategic professional engagements in the United States and Europe.

This was disclosed in a statement on Thursday by the Director-General of the Rescue Mission Team, Engr. Ajibola Famurewa.

According to Famurewa, Omisore has duly communicated his absence to the appropriate authorities and the leadership of the Council.

He explained that the Senator is currently on a high-level strategic assignment under the auspices of the World Bank Group in Washington DC, the European Investment Bank in Luxembourg, and his long-standing associates in Benin.

“Engr Dr Omisore is currently engaged in a World Bank development-driven assignment focused on sub-national governance, fiscal sustainability, and sustainable development financing models,” the statement said.

“The engagement involves high-level consultations, peer reviews and knowledge-sharing sessions at the World Bank Headquarters aimed at unlocking technical assistance and development financing windows for sub-national entities.”

Famurewa noted that the assignment is a continuation of Omisore’s long-standing track record with World Bank-supported development work, having previously supervised World Bank Assisted Health Projects for Plateau, Benue and Nasarawa States and undertaken research at the World Bank Institute.

He said the current engagement is designed to explore frameworks that will be directly beneficial to the people of Osun State in particular and Nigeria in general, especially in the areas of infrastructure development, health systems strengthening, and human capital development.

He assured that despite his absence, Omisore’s role as Adviser is national and he will deliver unprecedented votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu beyond Osun State.

The statement added that it became necessary to clarify the situation following calls from critical stakeholders, well-wishers and supporters worldwide seeking clarification on his absence at the inauguration.
