The Iwo Board of Ulamas has urged Governor Ademola Adeleke to appoint an indigene of Iwo as chairman of the Osun State Hajj Commission.
The appeal was made during a press conference attended by representatives of various Muslim organisations and prominent Islamic scholars from the town.
The group also called on the governor to prioritise the completion of the dual carriage road from the Post Office area to Adeeke.
The scholars noted that the Muslim community in Iwoland was prepared to nominate a suitable candidate for the Hajj Commission chairmanship for Governor Adeleke’s consideration.
They further requested that the governor consider Iwo indigenes for strategic political portfolios and full-time employment opportunities within the state.
The group, while congratulating the governor on his August 15 electoral victory, urged him to sustain his administration’s relationship with Iwoland.
