No fewer than 200 teenagers from Ede North, Ede South, Egbedore and Ejigbo Federal Constituency of Osun State will participate in a five-day leadership and capacity-building bootcamp.
The lawmaker representing the constituency, Rep. Bamidele Salam, will facilitate the bootcamp.
Themed “Empowering the Next Generation of Responsible, Tech-Savvy, and Impact-Driven Leaders,” the event will hold from September 28 to October 2, 2026.
It is being organised by the Children of Africa Leadership and Values Development Initiative (CALDEV) and BSE4, in partnership with FirstBank.
The programme, according to the organisers, is designed to equip teenagers between ages 13 and 19 with skills in leadership development, financial literacy, technology, artificial intelligence, critical thinking, public speaking, teamwork and community engagement.
Speaking on the initiative, Rep. Salam, who is also the founder of CALDEV, said leadership development must start early, noting that investing in young people is key to building a responsible society.
According to him, the bootcamp will combine classroom learning with practical exercises to enable participants apply knowledge to real-life challenges.
“A major component is the focus on artificial intelligence, alongside critical-thinking and problem-solving exercises, teamwork, public-speaking sessions, leadership activities and an inter-local government quiz competition,” he said.
Participants are being drawn from schools, faith-based organisations, persons with disabilities and other youth groups across the four local government areas to ensure inclusiveness.
The programme will climax on October 1 with a variety night featuring an inter-LGA quiz competition, talent presentations and presentation of solutions from the community problem-solving challenge.
Participants will be presented with certificates and are expected to depart on October 2.
